WakeTok Privacy Policy

Effective date: 3 October 2026

WakeTok lets you swipe through the photos and videos in your own photo library, full screen. It works on your device and collects no data.

Summary

WakeTok does not collect or upload your photos, videos, activity, or locally stored app data. When you choose to share an item, WakeTok hands it to the iOS share sheet. Apple services such as iCloud Photos and device backups are separate from WakeTok, follow your own settings, and are explained below.

There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. The app contains no analytics or advertising tools and does not connect to any server I run.

Information WakeTok accesses

With your permission, WakeTok reads the photos, videos, and Live Photos in your photo library to show them full screen. You can allow full access or limited access to selected items, and change this at any time in iOS Settings. WakeTok asks for no other permissions, not even for your current location.

To show and sort your items and display their details, WakeTok also reads information that Photos keeps about them, including capture date, media type, dimensions, duration, file size, Favourite status, and the albums they are in. WakeTok uses this information on your device and does not upload it to me. Some metadata may remain in a video when you choose to share it, as explained below.

Network access and iCloud Photos

If you use iCloud Photos and an original is not stored on your device, iOS may download it from iCloud through Apple's Photos framework. iOS also syncs your photo library with iCloud, including changes you make in WakeTok. These transfers take place between your device and Apple; nothing is sent to me.

When you tap Privacy Policy in WakeTok Settings, this page opens in your web browser. WakeTok opens only the page address and does not add any information from your photo library or the app.

Changes WakeTok makes to your photo library

WakeTok changes your photo library only when you ask it to:

Sharing

When you share an item, WakeTok passes it to the iOS share sheet for the app or person you choose; I do not receive a copy. Still photos are shared without their location information. Live Photos are shared as a still photo. Videos are shared as Photos provides them and may retain their metadata, including the location where they were recorded, if present.

Data stored on your device

WakeTok stores the following data on your device:

WakeTok does not upload any of this to me. If you back up your device, the backup may include this data.

While you browse, WakeTok saves temporary images on your device so photos appear quickly. iOS may clear them from time to time, and they are not included in backups. To share a still photo, WakeTok makes a temporary copy without location information and deletes it when the share sheet closes; any copy left behind is removed the next time you share a still photo.

Revoking access and deleting data

You can stop WakeTok from reading your photo library at any time by removing its Photos access in iOS Settings. The app sends no data to me, so I hold no account or app data about you to delete on request. To delete the data WakeTok stores on your device, delete the app; your photos and the WakeTok album stay in Photos. Device backups made before you delete the app may still contain copies; those backups are managed by iOS and your backup settings, not by WakeTok.
